Torta is a Filipino dessert. Also good for breakfast or as a snack.
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
10 egg yolks
1 1/2 tbsp baking powder
3 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp anise powder
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 can 300 ml condensed milk
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Boil water and sugar for 5 minutes to make a syrup. Set aside to cool.
Combine flour, baking powder and anise powder in a bowl. Set aside.
Combine melted butter, vegetable oil and syrup.
Mix egg yolks and condensed milk and stir in the flour mixture.
Pour batter into lined or greased muffin molds.
Bake in the pre-heated oven for 22 minutes or until inserted toothpick comes out clean.
Brush the top of the baked torta with melted butter and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
